Ribfest was a steamy one this year. There have been times in the past where it was hot for a day or two, but not for the entire event. I kept myself pretty hydrated, drinking 6 or 7 bottles of Gatoraide a day. I was photographing for the event, and also for Naperville Magazine. So you should see a good spread of additional images in the next issue.
The music was great; ZZ Top, Steve Miller, Joe Walsh, and others played to some very happy crowds.
This is one of my favorite photos from the whole thing. It just shows the joy that music can bring to people.
ZZ Top sounded as good as ever. I thought they should have played a bit longer, but maybe that’s because I could have listened to them all night.
And I don’t know country music at all. But I appreciate that the singer of Thompson Square knows where the camera is at all times.
Ribfest was five days long this year, and I felt like I must have walked 20 miles in the 95 degree heat. It took me a day or two longer to recover from it this time, but I’m already gearing up for our city’s next big festival- The Last Fling, which will take place over Labor Day weekend.
