Saigon School

I’m sure there must be some grumpy people somewhere in Vietnam, but I certainly didn’t run into any of them. While photographing at a school there I was literally mobbed by hoards of happy kids. They all kept jumping in front of the camera. Little Lucy Campaign

From a creative and business aspect, 2014 was quite an adventurous year for me. I tackled some big projects and traveled far and wide. In fact, it occurred to me the other day that I managed to make it to five continents in the last 12 months. But despite the exotic locations, the new faces, and the mountain of frequent flier miles, one of my more interesting assignments happened much closer to home. RIC Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago Lucy is an adorable little bright-eyed ball of energy. She is blessed with a classic name and a bob-cut that would fit perfectly in a vintage “Our Gang” movie. At 8 months old Lucy was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Since then it’s been a non-stop schedule of therapy, surgery, and visits to physicians. lucy4 She is being treated by the specialists at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. And these photographs are being used as part of an annual fundraising effort for the Women’s Board at RIC. RIC Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago One of the things I like the most about my job is that I get to meet people like Lucy and work on such unique projects. I spent several days following her through her usual routine at the hospital and her home. I’m grateful to the family for allowing me to experience this part of their lives. IMG_4552forblog
